Illuminating Living Room

In deciding kind of illumination for living room, it is quite essential that we do pay attention on the size and dominant color of the room. Well, it is not something confusing, as a matter of fact; however, we don’t want our living room to look ugly when the light is too bright or on the contrary so that illumination does not support the performance. At day time, we don’t feel it at all; nevertheless, all comfort and discomfort are felt during the night. Hence, illuminating system in our living room needs to be reconsidered.

Let us take a look at a big living room with bright color of wall. This room will surely need fluorescent lighting with moderate light power, let’s say about 20 to 30 watt. It is also a good idea to install more lighting with less power each, or to place some floor decorative lampshades with low lighting power is also fine, though they will just role as accessories.

Other big room with dark colored wall needs extra lighting to illuminate the whole room. Higher watt is needed here. Addition backup lightings on the ceiling or wall could help especially on the dark parts. There is no need to manage symmetrical position of those lightings; it tends more to provide fluorescence to spread evenly. Standing or floor lamps apparently work well to support the main illumination from the ceiling or from the wall.

Medium sized to small living room with bright color paint does not need too much lighting but one fluorescent bulb or neon glow is enough. It is deliberately different from a small living room with dark paint where only one lamp is insufficient to illuminate all parts of the room unless we mean to have the room as it is. Ironically, addition lighting on the ceiling or the wall does not go well with this small room; the room will be full with lamps! It is suggestible to place on the ceiling one wide fluorescent lighting, or hanging one when the ceiling is high enough, with high watt and clear shade.

When there come some guests to our home, with all point of view in illuminating the living room mentioned above, the living room is ready with the suitable illumination along with the room performance. Though we don’t realize this, we will feel the comfort of a place with the lighting system. It is inevitably that lighting plays big roles on the convenience of eyesight.
